Questions and Answers

+ Why shouldn't I put my trailer on my auto or home policy?

Insurance is very specific in it’s intentions. Auto insurance is intended to insure motorized cars and a home policy is intended to insure a building that doesn’t travel down the road. Because of this, there are exclusions and limitations that will effect your RV somewhere along the way? Also, if you insure your RV under a home or auto policy and you place a claim on your RV, your home and auto rates will increase for up to 6 years.

+ Why shouldn't I put my motor home on an auto policy?

Even though a Motor Home is an automobile, there are many other parts that require extra coverage, such as awnings, generators, contents, inverters, dollies, power cells, solar panels, portable washrooms, California rooms, etc. We include coverage on our program for all these items (and more), while most insurers don’t. And even if an auto policy did include all these items, which they don't, we provide complete replacement cost, without depreciation, which could save you thousands of dollars in the event of a claim.

+ Presently, I purchase my insurance directly from an insurance company, (such as AMA, Coop, All State, Federated, Monex, Canadian Direct, etc.). Why should I deal through a brokerage?

As independent brokers, we don’t work for the insurance company, but in fact, we work specifically for you. Not one of our staff receives any compensation from the insurer and obviously we do not pay your claim out of our pocket. Therefore, you know that we do not have a conflict of interest with your claim.

When you purchase your insurance directly from an insurer, you have to wonder if they are there to make sure they don’t pay out anymore than they have to or if they are paying you everything you are entitled to. With RV Direct Insurance, you don’t have to worry whose side we are on - we are there to make sure that all parties receive what they are entitled to.

+ My broker has placed me with Elite Insurance already, why should I deal with RV Direct Insurance?

As mentioned previously, most brokers specialize in home and auto insurance, but only handle one or two RV policies in the course of a year. It is difficult for that broker to provide you the proper coverage when they aren’t familiar with the options available, simply because they don’t do enough RV insurance. Besides that, even though we also underwrite our program through Elite Insurance, we have a number of enhancements that the regular Elite product does not offer. On top of that, with us, you automatically receive all the benefits of our Explorer RV Club. In other words, with us, you get more bang for your buck.

+ Can you handle other formats of insurance?

No – and – Yes. RV Direct Insurance Ltd. only handles RV insurance. Nothing else. We specialize in RV Insurance and that is all we do. We do it better than anyone else, because we do it more than anyone else. However, our sister company, All West Insurance Network handles all formats of insurance. They even have a mortgage broker on staff to take care of the financing of your home or business.

+ We are from another part of the province and like to deal locally. Why should we deal long distance with RV Direct Insurance?

Because we specialize in RV insurance, you won’t find anyone else that can do what we do, nor provide you the coverage and service enhancements. Service is paramount and we don’t let distance get in the way. We service clients and handle business daily by phone, fax, email, regular mail, in person, and through our "Dealership Network". If you have a claim and aren’t close to us, we will come to you to make sure that you are serviced properly. For that matter, you could be on a trip down to the further part of North America and we will still make sure that we can be there to help you out. This is only one reason why we offer a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week, 365 day a year toll – free telephone number.

+ I am a full time RV'er. Can you insure me?

Yes we can - in fact we have a very specific coverage for full timers that no one else offers. We charge a little more, because the coverage is broader, but it is a very necessary and integral part of your protection.

+ Is it necessary to tell your insurer that you are a full time RV'er?

As a matter of fact, it is. If you don't, you may be voiding your coverage, because most insurers have an exclusion for use of an RV on a full time basis.
