Thinking of buying a vehicle in the U.S. Read this first...

Many people buy coverage when going to Mexico right at the border. Some even buy coverage from Mexican Insurers. Both methods can lead to problems and aggravations should a claim occur. Here is a little info that you might have not considered previously:

A Valid policy with proper coverage: Firstly, question as to whether or not you are actually receiving a policy with valid coverage. It is possible that the person pockets the cash you pay them and gives you a phony piece of paper that says insurance on it. Through us, you have your policy in hand, long before you ever leave Canada!

Yo no hablo español: Perhaps you weren't aware of this, but for some of us, there is a language barrier, unless you speak fluent Spanish. I can't tell you the number of calls we receive from someone that bought their insurance at the border and then asks for our help because they can't understand what the adjuster that OUR COMPETITION has assigned them. Unfortunately, because of legislation, we can only assist our clients with respect to their insurance and claims. We have to refer others to a lawyer - certainly not a cheap alternative! However, our insurance staff all speak fluent English and Spanish to make sure you are looked after properly.

Where to repair? Next, other policies require you to repair your RV or Vehicle in Mexico. Trying to finding a valid, authorized RV repair shop south of the U.S. border it IMPOSSIBLE - Mexicans don't RV! We allow our clients to option of bringing their vehicles back to the U.S. for repairs at normally body shop rates.

Get out of jail "Free" card: On top of this, most gringos don't know that should you have an accident in Mexico, the usual method of settling the matter is for the Federalies to lock you in the clink for a few nights, until things are sorted out. Our package includes a bond to make sure that this will not happen to you.

Short term policies: Some people buy short term policies to travel to their destination. After they reach their destination, their coverage expires and they hang around for a few months and then buy another short term policy to drive back to the U.S. This is a very dangerous method of "Self Insurance" and we don't suggest you even think of such a thing. On top of the issues noted above, now you have to contend with making sure that you reach your destination on time - what happens if you have a breakdown that delays your final arrival? You are either trying to find another policy or you are driving without any insurance at all. Even after you stop and park, you are still susceptible to fire, lightening, wind, hail, flood, tornado, hurricane, theft, vandalism, etc. You are on your own for all these losses, plus now, you may not have any way to get back out of the country! This is followed by the need for you to now dispose of your SALVAGE! Who will buy this salvage remains from you after a fire? How do you tow it to a salvage yard and at what cost? In a recent situation, the cost of disposing of the salvage cost us close to $4,000.00 U.S. - can you afford to pay this from your pocket, in addition to losing your RV and possibly your vehicle as well.

Premiums: It is no secret, but today, Mexican Insurance is expensive and going up all the time. Some of the reasons for this are the increased costs of settling claims, but also the amount of fraud that goes along with people that purchase a short term policy, drive to Mexico with a damaged vehicle and then try to claim a hit and run loss because they didn't buy the coverage in the U.S. or Canada. To help you combat the higher cost of Mexican Insurance, if you purchase your Canadian Insurance and Mexican Insurance from us, we will rebate your Canadian policy for the time that you are in Mexico. Hopefully, those few extra pesos we save you will help you enjoy your trip just a little more.
